You can hunt with many different types and styles of weaponry.

Hunters often use rifles shotguns handguns and muzzleloading firearms.

Although hunting may seem like an outdated pastime, older generations still love it. According to a survey, 68% of baby boomers expect to hunt once again when they are older. Hunting is for them a way to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature.

Younger generations may not consider hunting a priority. In fact, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, only 18 percent of millennials consider themselves avid shooters.

That's why FWS is working hard to make sure that America's wild places remain open for everyone to experience.

The agency launched "Wild Lands", a campaign to raise awareness of public lands across the nation in 2014. It is intended to raise awareness and encourage people visiting these areas to preserve them.

Conservation efforts are encouraged through Wild Lands. One example is the partnership between FWS and the National Rifle Association to create a youth shooting sports program called Project Gunter. This program teaches kids how firearms can be safely handled and helps them to develop skills such safety and marksmanship.

Project Gunter is expanding to include minorities and women. As a result, more children are learning how to shoot guns and become active participants in wildlife conservation.

How to hunt wild birds

Wild Turkeys can be described as birds that are found throughout North America. They are found in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Wild Turkeys consume grasses, seeds and insects. They also consume berries, acorns and fruit from the trees in certain areas. Their diet helps them stay healthy and strong. Wild Turkey feathers are used to make clothes and hats. The breast meat is eaten.

Hunting wild turkeys is safe if you follow these tips. Wear long pants. Closed-toe shoes are best. Do not wear perfume or cologne because it attracts predators. If you see a predator, do not run away. Instead, move slowly towards your vehicle. When approaching a bird, be calm and still. It might take several tries before you get close enough to shoot. You should use 00 buckshot to shoot wild turkeys. You should only shoot one shot at a time.
